After all, if "literally" is not unique in the irony of its use, then that would not be the correct qualifier to use.<br /><br />I personally think that is the case here. Although "literally" is often used ironically (on accident), there are definitely other words in the English language which are used just as ironically, and just as accidentally.<br /><br />So, if the other reader was of the same opinion, they may have mistakenly thought that you mistakenly used "unique" to mean "rare".
